Since I can't play FF VII: Rebirth, I watched the ending.

Aerith still dies.

All that teasing Square-Enix did was just BS. She's still dead, and was going to die no matter what. Now Cloud's even more broken, and will be damn near impossible for Tifa to save once he does snap.

It was all meaningless. The world is still going to be smashed by Sephiroth's Meteor, and Aerith still has to stay in the Lifestream, using Holy at the last moment. Just like the first time.

Square-Enix had a chance to save her, and tell the story in a new way, and chart a new, less depressing course. But, no. Aerith Gainsborough is still dead. By Sephiroth's hand. Final Fantasy VII is going to end the same damn way it did in 1997.

All that fluff about defying destiny and fighting for a new future was all lies. Nothing but lies. What was the point? Why didn't they just remake the game as it was? Why mislead the public like this? Marketing? Hype? SALES?!

Now they have to end the story in the exact same way, only with pointlessly complicated threads to unravel. They made their job more complicated than it had to be...all for nothing.

There's no point in playing anything Final Fantasy VII related if the story is just going to be a tragic, depressing loop of Crisis Core, the original, Advent Children, and back again only with wrinkles that make no sense. No point at all.

I'm glad I don't have a PlayStation 4 or 5. If I'd have gotten one for the Final Fantasy VII "Remake" trilogy...I'd be even more depressed than I already am. Honestly, I haven't even played the original. And now, I don't even want to. I'm in the middle of FF I and intend to play through the other 15...but I'll probably give VII a miss (and VIII, too, since that story isn't any less tragic and confusing).

If you're reading this and think I'm being over-dramatic over a video game that's supposed to be sad and tragic, then fine. You can think that if you want. I really don't care. I have more than enough things in my life to be sad about. I don't need my main hobby making me feel worse.

  1. Classic Sonic is back to stay. DEAL WITH IT.

  2. Save more money. Yes, even more money than you think you do (which isn't enough to write home about, FYI).

  3. June is Pride Month, and it's not going away. It's sinful and wrong, but that's the way it is. DEAL WITH IT.

  4. You are not dateable. At all. Work on that.

  5. Those plans you had were yours and yours alone. It's YOUR fault they didn't get done. DEAL WITH IT.

  6. Your mom's boyfriend is a stubborn, bitter old man set in his ways, just like your dad's wife. If you don't want to turn into that, get out of this rut you're in.

  7. Your YouTube videos won't make themselves. Now that you have what you need, get busy.

  8. God is not going to suddenly make your life better if you're going to keep living in sin. You KNOW why. Repent ASAP, so He can show you what to do next.

  9. Yes, you know what the Sonic franchise needs to be truly great once more, but no one (ESPECIALLY SEGA) is going to care if you're not the type of person worth listening to. Yes, getting banned from the SSMB did irreparable damage, but that was partly your fault for not being medicated and for not blocking the creeps who needed to be blocked. There are other ways to get Sega's attention. You just need to figure out what they are.

  10. Your physical and mental health is YOUR responsibility.

  11. Evening Star Studios exists and WILL be successful. Is it fair that they and other Sonic fandom elitists have been having their arrogance and jackassery vindicated for the past decade or so? No. Life isn't fair. DEAL WITH IT.

  12. You are on Twitter WAY TOO MUCH. Knock it off. Seriously.

  1. A wedding tuxedo for Ryu.

  2. A brighter green for Cammy's classic costume.

  3. Somewhat beefier arms for Chun-Li.

  4. Updated jiggle physics for the ladies.

  5. A Violent Ken mod (Costume 1). The works.

  6. Lower the zipper of Juri's second costume.

  7. A Shadow Lady color for Chun-Li.

  8. Add clothing damage to the battle damage.

That's all for now.

Sonic Team USA

2 min read

One ambition I have is to revive Sonic Team USA.

Our focus would be to make the kinds of games Sonic Team Japan are unwilling or unable to; The B team taking the creative risks they can't.

In order to be trusted with a new Sonic game, however, we'd start by fixing the older ones. In particular, we would remake the "failures" or "disappointments," bringing out their true potential. Or, just making the few sucky games not suck.

Once we've proven ourselves, we'd make something brand new, a game that would push the franchise forward and truly serve as the next evolutionary step.

Gameplay, graphics, music & sound, narrative & world building, presentation, marketing, etc. Every single envelope would be pushed as far as possible.

There would be no paid unlockables; all additional content would be earned the old-fashioned way, by playing the game and getting good.

Or, by using cheat codes, having save data of previous Sonic games, or participating in viral campaigns.

Lastly, the new Sonic Team USA would hopefully be enough to take some pressure away from the Japan team so they can be free to make the games THEY want to make. Both teams would communicate and help each other, perhaps forging a friendly rivalry.

All this is what I want to do for the franchise that has defined me, and has been a constant pillar in my life. Sonic has done much for me. I just want to help.

Bad News: I'm not going to be able to play Sonic Frontiers on Xbox any time soon.

Good News: I anticipated this and preordered the Steam version, too. It's really fun so far but needs some patches to fix the Graphics menu (which crashes the game when scrolled) and the sound going out of sync during in-game cutscenes.

Yes, I noticed the pop in, too, but I don't blame Sonic Team for that. I blame us - the Sonic the Hedgehog fanbase - for bullying them into rushing the game out before it could be polished.

Remember, Sonic fans? We were so starved for content that we kept hounding them and Sega for news, updates, ANYTHING? Remember how cruel and obnoxious we were about it?

Yeah. We forced Sonic Team to show off Frontiers before it was ready to be shown and then had the NERVE to bitch and complain when we didn't like what we saw. And all of THAT just because Sonic Forces generated so much salt when it didn't have a CHANCE of competing with Sonic Mania.

This fanbase is Sonic Team's 2nd worst enemy, so I'm willing to cut 'em some slack nowadays.
